Reflections on True Knighthood, True Manhood

The strength of a true man isn't seen in the width of his shoulders
It's seen in his commitment to protect the innocent, born and unborn.

It's seen in the burdens he assists others to carry or cast off

The power of a man isn't heard in the deep tones of his voice.
It is in the humble words he whispers to the living God

in prayer, while on his knees for others and himself

The character of a man isn't always in the words he speaks.
Yet it's in how he keeps his word,

It's in how he lifts the hearts of the down trodden,

(in the silent words of his action)

The integrity of a man isn't in how respected he is by “society”
It's in how he is respected at home, before a honest mirror

Called wife (and his Children)

The love of a man isn't how many pals he has or how many women he's loved
It's in whether he can be faithful to the ones he claims to love

whether they be present or distant

This poem was inspired in part by the genuine witness of manhood, by a number of fellow Knights of Columbus and Secular Franciscans.
